Codling moth
Codling moth is the most serious moth pest of apple in western North America. In the Mid-Atlantic region, codling moth can be very problematic in some orchards, but is not as common or as abundant as oriental fruit moth. Codling moth males fly from late April until late September. The area of copper-colored scales at the posterior wing margins is a distinctive diagnostic characteristic.
